Sett Counter LOL

With the release of patch 15.23, Sett is still running solo queue from low elo all the way up through high tier play. Even with small shifts to the meta, his simple kit and overwhelming stats keep him at the top as one of the most reliable AD bruisers in the game. We here at BOTDIFF.LOL have assembled the best Sett counters in the game to help you deal with this menace.

1. Malphite – Rock Solid Sett Counter

Malphite Sett Counter

Malphite is one of the most reliable counters to AD bruisers, and countering Sett is no exception. From level one you can start bullying him thanks to Malphite’s passive shield, bonus armor, and built in attack speed slow. All of that chunks Sett’s damage and makes it nearly impossible for him to take extended fights the way he wants to.

For this matchup, run Grasp and start Q for the damage and speed steal. When Sett uses his Q to chase or trade, you can instantly siphon his move speed and walk away or reposition for a better angle. Take W second and max it first. The empowered autos with Grasp make your short trades heavily favored. Rush Frozen Heart into Sunfire, and Sett (and every other AD champ) will hit you like a wet noodle.

The biggest thing to track is the white grit bar above Sett’s health. That’s where his W gets its damage. If you deny him the perfect angle by using your Q speed boost to sidestep his E pull, he loses the only real tool he has to threaten you. Once he misses that, the fight is yours every time. Having one of the best offensive ultimate’s in the game is also a large help in this matchup. You get to leave lane a fed, big rock ready to demolish the first ADC you see.

2. Vayne – The Bully Sett Counter

Vayne Sett Counter

If you want a champion whose entire kit is built around making Sett miserable, Vayne is the perfect pick. She has everything you could ever want into a melee bruiser. Percent health true damage, a dash, a knockback, and bonus move speed to kite him endlessly. From level one she can deny Sett farm, space him off the wave, and make him regret locking in anything with two arms and no gap closers. She is the epitome of a Sett counter who want’s Sett to have a terrible game.

In this matchup, start Q and take Lethal Tempo. The dash lets you dodge Sett’s early trades and chunk him for extra damage, while the ramping attack speed makes him completely unable to keep up once you start spacing properly. Rush Blade of the Ruined King to shred through Sett’s health stacking and keep yourself topped off in lane so he never gets the all in he’s fishing for.

Your biggest advantage is how well your E shuts down Sett’s entire win condition. You can knock him away mid W charge to deny the true damage punch, or use Condemn aggressively to pin him to terrain and secure kills once his shield fades. Sett needs extended trades and close range to function and Vayne gives him neither. This matchup lets you take over the lane early and stay in full control all game long.

3. Singed – The Proxy Sett Counter

Singed Sett Counter

Singed is one of the strangest but most effective Sett counters, perfect for players who enjoy pure chaos. You get to choose how you want to torture Sett: play the lane normally and run circles around him denying him the kill on you or skip the matchup entirely and start proxying waves behind his tower. Keeping Sett pinned under turret while you run free makes this matchup miserable for Sett and his team.

Take Flash + Ghost with Conqueror, and rush Liandry’s to melt Sett’s naturally high HP build. Follow it with Rylai’s so he’s permanently slowed and unable to stick to you. The moment Sett tries to run at you, you kite him out, burn him down, and drag him across the map until he either gives up or dies to the burn. I recommend waiting until level 2 before you try to fight. The E + Q conqueror damage can surprise just about anyone.

The biggest key in this matchup is using your E to fling Sett away from you, especially when he winds up his W. If you keep that tiny bit of space between you and Sett and save your fling for clutch moments, Sett never gets to play. All he can do is watch you “burn” him with poison while slowly losing his mind and the lane at the same time. Keep Sett locked up in the top lane and look around the map, and I guarantee you’ll come out ahead.

4. Kled – The Maniac Sett Counter

Last on the list, but definitely not least, is Kled, the Admiral himself. Out of every pick here, Kled is the one who deals with Sett head on, which honestly feels pretty lore accurate. Just like Singed and Vayne, Kled has a surprisingly easy time dodging Sett’s W with his E, and he can drag Sett in with his Q to force trades on his terms. With his W giving him massive burst windows and the safety of dismounting instead of dying, Kled turns the lane into a nonstop brawl Sett can’t keep up with.

For this matchup, take Conqueror and rush Titanic Hydra for wave clear and the extra burst it gives in trades. From level one you want to look for short, frequent trades whenever your W is available, using your E to dodge Sett’s W or escape after you’ve chunked him. Kled’s kit makes it very hard for Sett to ever get a clean all in unless you misplay your spacing. His mobility plus his damage makes him a potent difficult to deal with Sett counter.

One of Kled’s biggest advantages is his ultimate. You can roam faster and more effectively than Sett ever could, turning early skirmishes into free kills and forcing Sett to choose between losing farm or losing the map. Add that to Kled’s already explosive teamfight presence and you end up outclassing Sett both in lane and across the Rift.

Sett can feel like one of the most oppressive top laners in the game, but he becomes a lot more manageable when you pick champions built to deny his all in playstyle. Whether you shut him down through range, burn him out with damage over time, or simply out stat him and ignore his trades, the key to beating Sett is controlling the pace of the lane and never giving him the extended fights he wants. We here at BOTDIFF.LOL always try to keep you one step ahead!
